Power Plant engineers operate and maintain the central plant, which generates electricity, steam and chilled water for heating and cooling of most campus buildings.

The Plant also responds to certain service calls.
Responds to all calls for service at (504) 865-5445 when the Customer Service desk is not open. (Customer Service is open 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday).

The Power Plant funds:
Electricity, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) operating costs for all academic buildings
Each department funds:
HVAC costs for residence halls, faculty houses, and auxiliary services, including food services and athletics (billed annually by Interdepartmental Transfer, IT)
Renovation or replacement of HVAC system
